I did not really know what to expect from fresher’s week. I had heard different things about it, but one of the best things for me was the bag of goodies that I was given by the college. It had all sorts of promotional products in there and I thought they were really great. There were some college promotional gifts as well as various food products in sample size to encourage the new student to be loyal to their brand. I was also surprised at the amount of eco friendly promotional products but I guess that is something which people are very aware of at the moment and it is really nice to see students being targeted by companies wanting to show how they wish to be environmentally friendly. I think that if the younger generation can be forced to care more for the environment then the planet stands a much better chance of being saved as the older generation do not seem to care and they are not going to be effected so much by any changes that are made. I think that it is very important for us to be aware of the planets needs and do our best to help it.

I love working in the construction business but there are a few things which I just do not like doing. One of them is carpet takeoff which is probably considered to be pretty simple by a lot of people. I suppose that I have made a few big mistakes in my time and that makes me nervous when I am doing it because I know how important it is to get it right. I think that I have also avoided doing it as much as I can getting anyone with me to do it instead, of me and so I do not get much practice. I am really pleased that there is software which can be bought to do it for you now, which should help to prevent the sort of mistakes that I have made in the past. It would be great to have something to calculate square feet and do all, of that sort of thing for me and I am really hoping that my company might start to use the software soon and I will not have any concerns at all about my job any more. I will have to start dropping hints about it I think!
